Anxiety
A constant feeling of discomfort with no identifiable cause.
Nervousness associated with interviews, exams, ‘cold-calling’, ect.
Panic; acute and debilitating anxiety, palpitations, shortness of breath, a fear of being embarrassed, a tightness in the throat, etc.


Fears/Phobias
Fear is part of our natural defence system, e.g. when crossing a busy road or climbing a ladder, ect. But when that fear becomes overwhelming and out of proportion to the situation it becomes an irrational fear – a phobia.

Common fears and phobias include Flying, Driving, Heights, Animals, Insects, Public Speaking, Medical and Dental treatment, Spiders, Open Spaces, Enclosed Spaces, School Attendance, and many, many more.

Amourophobia is the most common phobia with the vast majority of the population suffering at some time in their life: -

Acute Traumatic Stress
These include the immediate effects of Accidents, Injury, Bullying,
Physical Assault, Rape, Abuse (Physical, Emotional, Sexual), Conflict, Burglary, Loss of: employment, House, Lover, etc


Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Long after the traumatic event is over the individual may still suffer from anxiety symptoms, nightmares, tremor, and panic attacks, etc. The more severe the initial distress the more likely PTSD.


Addictions and Habits
If the removal of a substance leads to the development of withdraw symptoms then it is almost certain that an addiction is present. Such addictions are often self-destructive, and the individual is well aware of this but are unable to change their behaviour because of the addictive urge.
Common addictions include Smoking, Nail-biting, Alcohol, Gambling, Shopping, Foods, Sweets (chocolate, etc.), Prescription Drugs (Painkillers, Tranquillisers, etc.), Illegal Drugs (Heroin, Cocaine, etc.), and many more.


Grief and Anguish
Associated with bereavement, a loved one passing over, the break up of a relationship, an offspring leaving home, loss of employment, relocation, retirement, the loss of a loving pet, etc.


Performance Enhancement
Academic, Athletic and Professional performance all suffer from ‘Blocks’ at some time or another. At critical times such as Exams, Competitions, Sales Negotiations, etc., a block to peak performance can be disastrous.


Obsessions and Compulsions
Usually known as ‘OCD’, (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder).
OCD may manifest itself in many forms: obsession with hygiene,
excessive cleaning, compulsion to constantly wash hands,
excessive light-switch or door lock checking.
Any ritual behaviour pattern which causes distress.
